As an artist, I have long held a dream of living in France — a country that has always felt like home to me. From my very first visit to Paris, I felt an instant and almost inexplicable connection. I fell in love with places that felt deeply familiar, even though I had never been before. For many years, France became our family’s cherished destination whenever we could step away from the busyness of life and simply be.

Arriving in Paris, at any hour of the day or night, always found us wandering its streets — absorbing the sounds, the glow of the city, the scent of freshly baked bread, roasted chestnuts, and the comforting warmth of vin chaud drifting through the air. There is nothing quite like strolling along cobblestoned streets wrapped in those scents, moments that imprint themselves forever on the heart.

While we visited the iconic landmarks, it was always the moments off the beaten track that captivated me most. That was where I discovered the true beauty of the French lifestyle — unhurried, layered, authentic. Somehow, it always felt right, as though this was where I was meant to be.

Life, of course, had other plans — until it didn’t. A series of serendipitous, unplanned changes, combined with the unprecedented events of 2020, saw our family unable to return home. We were suddenly faced with the need to reimagine and recreate our lives entirely. A dream long imagined became our reality — not through planning, but through fate.

The path has not been without challenges, but when things are meant to be, everything flows. During total lockdown, I chose to see opportunity. Amid overwhelming emotion, I embraced my lifelong dream — living in France as a full-time artist — and from that, Le Parc Arts France – Art by Katie H was born.

Le Parc Arts France is an evolving creative retreat — a place for artists, writers, and all creatives to gather, share, create, and connect. A place to enjoy fine French food, embrace slow living, savour the present moment, and create memories that last a lifetime.

This blog and vlog are a snapshot of my creative life and spaces — my original art and photography, my practices, inspirations, and everyday beauty. I find myself constantly painting, sketching, and filming the quiet magic of France. I believe deeply in surrounding yourself with beautiful things wherever you live, work, or create — books, art, candles, flowers, treasured objects, and memories. These small details ground us, inspire us, and keep our creativity alive.

It doesn’t truly matter where you create, as long as you feel inspired — though living in the Haute-Vienne, in the heart of France, feels like perfection. Any studio becomes sacred when filled with the things you love. I adore all things French, vintage, and beautiful, and here, beauty is everywhere — France truly is next level.

I never go anywhere without art supplies or a camera. I collect moments. I sketch on napkins in cafés, eavesdrop on conversations, and capture fleeting impressions of people and places. Some of my favourite ideas have been born over coffee, surrounded by the gentle hum of life unfolding.

This is my journey. My creative home. And I’m so glad you’re here.
